Local dog training you can trust

Off Leash K9 Training is the most-loved dog training company serving Sun Valley and Washoe County.

Sun Valley dogs get the same three board and train programs as the rest of the Reno area: the 7-day program built around an off-leash recall, the 10-day program for everyday on-leash obedience, and the two-week Urban K9 program for dogs who go everywhere with you. Every program and price is on our plans and pricing page.

Why it matters

Why professional training is essential for Sun Valley dog owners

Behavior modification

Address jumping, pulling, barking, anxiety, and reactivity at the root, not just the symptom.

Safety & control

A dog that listens the first time is a safer dog around traffic, livestock, wildlife, and people.

Stronger bond

Clear communication builds trust, so your dog looks to you for direction instead of guessing.

Skills that transfer

We hand the training over to you at pickup, so the obedience keeps working at home.

Family harmony

A calm, well-mannered dog means a calmer home for kids, guests, and other pets alike.

What we offer

Our dog training programs for Sun Valley dogs

Every program is a board and train: your dog stays with a professional trainer, then you get a one-on-one handover session at pickup. Here is how they compare.

One-week board & train

Seven days of immersive training built around a full off-leash recall, so your dog comes back when called, even with distractions.

  • Off-leash recall, place and sit
  • Greeting, door and meal manners
  • 1.5-hour handover session at pickup

10-day board & train

Our on-leash program for dogs without serious issues, trained around the everyday distractions you meet at home and around town.

  • Come, sit, down, place, heel and off
  • Parks, trails and neighborhood walks
  • 2-hour handover session at pickup

Two-week Urban K9

Two weeks for dogs who need to keep it together in the busiest places, trained at high-distraction spots like busy events and shopping centers.

Training in Sun Valley

Built for how Sun Valley dogs actually live

Sun Valley sits in the high-desert hills just north of Reno and Sparks, an unincorporated Washoe County community in the 89433 ZIP code. Plenty of homes back onto open hillside, which is great for a dog right up until the day the gate is left open.

That is why a dependable recall is the first thing many Sun Valley owners ask about. The 7-day program is built around a full off-leash recall, plus place, sit and waiting politely at doors and gates, and the 10-day program adds heel, down and the off command for everyday control.

Training happens where your dog actually lives: neighborhood walks, parks and the everyday distractions of a busy household, so the obedience still works when your dog is back home with you.

Where your dog will shine

  • Sun Valley Regional Park
  • Neighborhood walks off Sun Valley Boulevard
  • Your own yard and front gate
  • Busy parking lots and storefronts in Reno and Sparks
  • Guests arriving at your front door
K9
Who you will be working with

Your dog boards with the trainer for the whole program, and at pickup you get a one-on-one handover session so you know exactly how to handle everything your dog has learned at home.

Frequently asked questions

Do you train dogs in Sun Valley, NV?

Yes. Sun Valley is part of the area we cover around Reno and Washoe County. We are not a walk-in storefront: your dog boards with a professional trainer for the program, visits are by appointment only, and drop-off and pick-up are arranged with you when you book.

My dog bolts out the door or gate. Can you help?

Yes. The 7-Day Board & Train Program centers on a full off-leash recall, plus place, sit and waiting politely at doors and gates, so your dog learns to hold position at the door and come back when called.

How much does dog training cost in Sun Valley?

The same as anywhere we serve. The 7-Day Board & Train Program is $2,285, the 10-Day Board & Train Program is $2,785 and the 14-Day Urban K9 program is $3,385. You can compare them all on our plans and pricing page. Payment plans are available. Call us today to learn more about payment options.

How old does my dog need to be?

At least 5 months old, for every program. We do not run a separate puppy program, so a younger dog waits until then.

Will I learn how to handle my dog too?

Yes. Every program ends with a one-on-one handover session with your trainer, about an hour and a half for the 7-day program and two hours for the 10-day and Urban K9 programs. If the commands ever start to slip, a free lifetime refresher is included.
